[glow=red,2,300]Duran Duran Reunion Captured On DVD[/glow]
Edited By Jonathan Cohen. August 08, 2005, 10:40 AM ET/By Greg Prato, N.Y.
If you didn't catch the first tour by the original Duran Duran lineup in 20 years, you'll get a second chance, and in the comfort of your living room. Duran Duran's “Live From London” DVD will be released Oct. 25 in North America, Oct. 31 in Europe and Nov. 7 in the United Kingdom. It will be available as both a single and double-disc package.
The single-disc boasts a behind-the-scenes documentary and commentary for 10 songs (two by each band member). The double-disc rewards the hardcore fan with glasses to watch one song in 3D, a 10-track bonus audio disc and deluxe packaging.

Recorded during the final two nights (April 30-May 1) of a sold-out, five-night engagement at England's Wembley, the DVD will be released by Coming Home Studios and SRS Labs.
"Throughout this entire process, we received individual comments back from each band member on a daily basis," executive producer Dan Catullo tells Billboard.com. "Whenever you do a project with five different personalities, it is very tough. However, with Duran Duran, their different personalities compliment each other and really help create a unique product unlike any other out there."
Another producer of the project, Jack Gulick, adds, "You will find that every detail of the DVD looks to the current Duran Duran style trends for its cues. The DVD box has design elements from the tour book design. The menus connect to the design in the live concert video screens created by Gary Oldknow for the tour and the 3D was inspired by the 'pop up' in the current tour book created by Andrew Day for the Astronaut tour.”
“Live from London” will also feature a new audio experience, Circle Surround, which allows a 5.1 Surround Sound mix to be stored or transferred over any two-channel format. “One of the most powerful features of the technology is that it is 100% compatible with all playback environments, from one-speaker mono to two-speaker stereo or multi-speaker surround sound,” says engineer Jamie Salkind. “One mix now satisfies everyone."
But just how does the performance itself hold up to the group's glory years? "The band's performance was exceptional -- they were clearly at the top of their game and they had this incredible energy from the audience,” Gulick says. “It was like there were no bad shots of them. We felt very fortunate that serendipitously we shot those nights.”
