[glow=red,2,300]BREAKING NEWS! "COSMOPOLITAN" movie[/glow]
the Duran Duran film that never got made. We can *finally* talk about it!
In the script, Nick plays an art gallery owner and latter day Warhol who pumps Gen X up and makes an entire generation get up and start marching, making art and protesting. There's this girl who falls in love with him, but she's not pretty, and because his character's dating a supermodel (name - Vyrblinka!) and is kind of shallow in the romance department, she suffers a lot for him.
Cast:
Victor Nichols - Nick Rhodes
Jermiah Ness - Simon Le Bon
Antonio Cavanaugh - John Taylor
Eliott Berneau - Andy Taylor
David Crown - Roger Taylor
Heather Ferreira, Duran Duran fan and the woman asked to direct the film, graciously provided the script, her director's agreement, and the movie poster for Duran fans to download and read. You must have Acrobat Reader to view the script and director's agreement, which you can download for free. She's also asked if anyone has any feedback on the script, she'd love to hear it!
Post your feedback on Dear Saint Nick. www.templeofsaintnick.com/
and certainly here on DURANMANIA!!
>>>>>> A clarification about - Cosmopolitan is *not* being made, and it's not a hoax. After some initial promising feedback from the production company and DD management, the project went south and the director has moved on to new projects. Thanks to those who wrote in asking for clarification. Update: Earlier today, Katy Krassner emailed the Temple to say, "...the band were never involved in this project and never had any intentions to be involved despite what you may hear to the contrary." Heather Ferreira also noted in an email today that, "...just to clarify, Duran Duran, Wendy Laister and Nick Rhodes did not ask me to direct the movie. LDE has signed me to direct an unspecific movie, content TBA, for their company. With the contract in hand and nobody saying I couldn't, I figured the first movie I would direct for them would be a DD movie." <<<<<<<<<

The Duran Duran Movie That Didn't - Nice One-Sheet, Though ~ Friday, September 23, 2005
+++ Duran Duran: The Official Statement +++
Lee Daniels Entertainment and I were interested in creating an original feature film starring pop group Duran Duran during March and April of 2005. Talks were opened between LDE, myself and Magus Entertainment. The band's manager, Wendy Laister of Magus Entertainment, is self-admittedly not expert in film negotiation, and in late April, she decided against any Duran Duran feature film being made. Producer Lee Daniels was personally very hurt by her decision. I was hurt by it for one week. Today I am relieved my film was not made starring the band and under what would have been what I consider to be extremely dishonest and adverse circumstances.
Cosmopolitan is solely my property, and I will likely star experienced actors in it, after some changes, at a different studio at a later date. No Duran Duran feature film is in the works at LDE or any other major Hollywood or New York motion picture studio. LDE and I are not interested at all in making a Duran Duran film, each of us has continued onward with non-Duran Duran-related feature productions, and any implication by the band or their management or assistants that we are discussing or interested in making any film with them is completely and blatantly untrue. I wish Duran Duran the very best with their musical careers, and I am sure Lee Daniels and Lisa Cortes wish them the same.
