Support Duran Duran! send an email to your local radio and ask for the new single "Sunrise"! here's a list of the american and european radio stations.
USA Radio Station Listings - International Radio Station Listings - Voting
We know that you are all eager to promote Sunrise to the media, so we thought we'd give you a helping hand along the way! These pages contain listings of radio stations and video channels which you may want to contact to request Sunrise.
You can discuss and co-ordinate your promotion efforts on the DuranDuran.com board. We've also written some guidelines to follow when making requests, which should ensure that the fan campaign is a success.
Please also keep these single-to-radio dates in mind when contacting stations:
Europe Aug 9 / Canada Aug 17 / Australia Aug 23 / United States Aug 23 / Asia Aug 23 / Latin America Aug 24 / Japan Aug 26
Always be positive when interacting with the media and the public
If a DJ says something negative, let it pass. Don't fuel the fire by writing in arguing with them - there will be a thousand other DJs out there who love Sunrise - they are the ones to concentrate on. Accentuate the positive!
Only contact radio stations in your local area or radio stations you can listen to online
Know the radio station that you are making the request to. Imagine requesting Sunrise during country hour? Not only will they not play the song, they will probably ignore all your subsequent emails! So, make an effort to listen to the shows where you are requesting the track, mention something that the DJ was talking about earlier, and always call the DJ by name.
Don't write to the same DJ or the same station TOO often, and do not spam.
You don't want to become known as the 'Duran Duran pest'! About once a week per DJ, or twice a week per station is a good average. On the other hand, if you are a regular listener who is already known to a DJ, then use your status to maximum effect! Also do not spam out requests, always write a separate email to each DJ at each station, and never mass mail (that includes BCC).
Be yourself, not part of the collective
We know you're proud to be a Duranie, but this doesn't matter to the DJ; your request is more likely to be taken seriously if they think that you are just a general member of the public who has been bowled over by Sunrise. It's what you love about the song that is important to the DJ, not what you love about Duran Duran. Do not mention that you are part of a collective of Duranies, or the DJ will probably fear being inundated by requests and start to ignore them. Try to use official email addresses to send the request in, as opposed to fanbased addresses (misssmith@smith.com would carry more weight than iloveduranduran@duranduran.com). You don't want the DJ to think that you are only writing as part of some organised effort, you want them to know that you genuinely love the song and are sincere in your request to hear it.
A phonecall is worth a thousand emails
So, wherever possible, make a personal call to the request line and request Sunrise!
One important note
The best way to make an impact is to call AFTER a station has played Sunrise and tell them that you think the song is amazing! That creates much more of an impact then simply requesting it.
Most importantly - be friendly, be funny and be upbeat -
and always remember to say thank you to radio stations who play Sunrise!
