REVIEW: For a long time I considered this movie to be the worst of the series. Although I still don't like it all too much, it has grown on me a bit. The idea of Felix Leiter's maiming came from the novel Live and Let Die and although it worked there, after 27 years of Felix on screen it was a bad idea. Fortunately, they left him alive so he can come back at any time. The film was a radical departure from the Bond formula that didn't work. It was, however, an excellent action movie. There was plenty of suspense and Dalton kept me on the edge of my seat. I really believe that he is James Bond. I just didn't like the plot at all. Another area the movie was lacking was in Talisa Soto. She was the most whiny, pathetic, Bond-dependent Bond girl ever. She fell in love with Bond out of nowhere. By far the best part of the movie is the extended role of Q. For years Q's part has ranged from nonexistent to a five minute role. Now, Q goes into the field to help Bond and ends up being a main character. I would have liked to see this relationship continue, as well as Dalton's tenure as Bond. Oh well.
