James Bond star Pierce Brosnan has said he will not be doing any more 007 movies. The Irish-born actor admitted his fourth film, Die Another Day, in 2002 was his last mission. The 51-year-old star is not under contract to do any more Bond films. Brosnan told Entertainment Weekly: "That's it. I've said all I've got to say on the world of James Bond. No service for Her Majesty (Pierce Brosnan '04) "We went out on a high and I look back affectionately at that time and doing those four movies. But I've said all I gotta say on it." He had claimed he was unsure whether he would appear as the secret agent again, claiming the movies' producers "don't know what to do". Brosnan accused the producers of being "too scared" and claimed work on the next film had hit paralysis. It seems that Eon Productions, which produces the 007 movies, must find another star for the 21st Bond outing, scheduled for release next year. Among those who could be in line for the secret agent's job are Britons Clive Owen, Ioan Gruffudd, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Gerard Butler, Jude Law and Ewan McGregor. Aussies Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger and Eric Bana are also rumoured replacements. But Brosnan's comments may be a negotiating ploy. Original Bond Sean Connery quit before being lured back for more money. ..this is bad NEWS!! SLIM K

Bond 21 - 30-07-04 MGM stays tight lipped about the future of Pierce Brosnan as 007, but Bond 21 is ahead of schedule
MGM may be tight lipped about Pierce Brosnan's future as James Bond, but the 21st film in the series is ahead of schedule.
MGM President Chris McGurk told reporters and Wall Street analysts the company and EON are still developing the 21st Bond film in the 42 year-old series. A script was complete, a director was being hired and then they would see about Bond.
“At that point, we’re going to address the casting issues. It’s the same process we went through with ’Die Another Day,”’ which was the most recent Bond movie, McGurk said.
McGurk said MGM still targets Nov. 2005 as the release date for the unnamed new Bond movie, and that the producers were ahead of schedule compared with “Die Another Day.”
With film production nearing, Hollywood insiders speculate Brosnan may be starting negotiations in the press. His media representative referred calls to MGM, which declined to comment beyond McGurk’s statement.
